I find it amusing that your avatar shows an elementalist from the waist up wearing 15k Sunspear (the one most people call out as being skimpy).

Morals like that are outdated. You can thank the church for that.

It used to be that people walked around cities fully nude. As far as I know, no problems came from this exposure, save for possible sunburn in uncomfortable places. At some point people stopped seeing the body as something beautiful and starting seeing it as something ugly.

Most people fail to realize that the people that they're trying to protect are not the children, but themselves. If a 3 year old sees a breast, it's not like their brain will instantly hemorrhage.

those are just pixels, if u dont like a set of armor, just dont craft it.
unless a gun is pointed at u while playing, u dont have to craft those 15k sets

Even more, since the release of insignia, u can choose ANY skin for yer max armor.

(Go buy yer ele a FoW or stick a "Post-It" on yer screen to hide yer character ^^ )

I can't understand how you people get offended by the so called "revealing armor sets" when there is a title in the game encouraging getting drunk.
( which by the way I think is the most stupid thing Anet has put in the game )

Simple solution for real female players who want to avoid getting "dance for me" abuse and private message filth is to create male toons. Not an ideal one unfortunately

As a male, I enjoy creating female characters coz they are nicer to look at but yes, I do also want them to leave stuff to the imagination, most definately. Mesmers are the best

Please report any private abusive messages to ANET so they can deal with the low life males sending them. Messages of an insultive sexual nature are a breach of the EULA so should be dealt with appropriately. I am sure ANET take these matters seriously.

I agree with Dervish Gnome. She isnt asking that you remove the semi nude armor from the females just add some less provacative as well. Tell me how the meser armor that looks like a nightgown protects anything. I want to put you in a teddy from victorias secret and throw rocks at you. lets see if your safe. Its not just about what looks good or not its also about what just looks silly.

/signed for more armor

Well, actually caster gear are NOT armor.
They may have 60 armor, but that means 'basic', that is, a skill that deals 50 non-armor-ignoring damage deals 50 in 60 armor, more with less armor than that and less with more armor than that.

The only 'less logical' armor are the Paragon ones and the gladiator armor, that look like leather armor cover less, yet they have 80 armor.

Yeah, but how could a 13 year old pervert male explain his male warrior dancing naked in front of an unsuspecting female character? Showing her some moves, eh?

What's next, duct tape bikini for female characters?

Uh...13 yr olds rarely know enough about vanilla sex yet to be classed as perverts. 13yr old males are adolescents ie Beavis and Butthead.

Perhaps you need to browse on Wiki the available female armors? Because for every class there's a variety that stretches from bikini to full body armor and thats not just for warriors either.

Claiming this is a trend towards 'less clothing' is at best uninformed and at worst a blatant lie.
Nothing needs to change, there's a rather large amount of armor sets available and most of them are quite modest, yes, also the ele and mesmer sets.

There is nothing wrong with making requests for a particular type of armor. This is the place to do it. Elonian armor was particularly lacking in variety - they designed too many armors for heroes and not enough for players IMO.

That said, I wouldn't like to see a move towards more conservative dress for the game in general. If people are worried about the male/female imbalance, I'd rather they add more beefcake than take away my cheesecake... Let Mhenlo switch to tats or something.

I'm a male gamer and I prefer the heavier looking leather armors on my ele girl. Ancient or geomancers 15k for example. How does 15k druids give you any protection when all you're wearing is furry underwear?

Dervish Gnome,
Please re-read the post by jamal in its entirety he made several very good points which you simply brushed under the proverbial rug. Yes some (perhaps even half) of all of the armor for females could be considered revealing but lets look at this from a social perspective. Most of the female armor that i see in Guild Wars is generally less revealing than what I see women wearing on TV/Movies or even in any one of my random college classes. Now it is also more decorated with lace/silk or whatever the specific armor type is than what you might find in todays general apparel but thats to be expected. In any case most female armor types (with a few exceptions) reveals no more than you could see watching 30 minutes of tv.... I'm also relatively certain that you don't feel the urge to cover your television when someone walks in. Additionally, Guild Wars is set in the fantasy world and if you were to go to your local Borders/Barns & Noble and look at the cover of ANY of the books in the fantasy section and compare that between what the women are wearing in Guild Wars you might be surprised to realize that most female armor in guild wars is LESS revealing than what is on the cover of the books. Additionally you keep asking for alternative armor types when several posts have given you examples of various female armor which an Amish Guild Wars enthusiast would be happy to show his parents (except for the computer and electricity stuff). In any case please stop flaming about a select group of female armor types when there are plenty of alternatives for any class that you wish to play. If you would like to see a list of various armor types that one might consider unrevealing then please just refer to the part of jamals post that you completely ignored for the sake of complaining some more. Also, I would like to point out that you're complaining about armor types that will be released in GWEN and GW2 shows your general lack of intelligence because WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE (expletive) ARMOR IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE IN GWEN AND GW2. Finally, I feel that this thread could easily be closed because other people with the same insecurities and baseless complaints have already posted several threads about this. If you don't like the armor get less revealing armor there are several options throughout each of the professions as it stands. GG mm2.

That is so very true. Yes; however, those people aren't suppose to be characters played by me...so I don't have to put up or deal with childish remarks from the less than wonderful public.

For female Elementalist armor I keep hearing about ancient and FoW. Since I obviously don't have the gold for FoW nor the time to travel into the abyss to find the ectos...that leaves me with Ancient. I still don't feel as though I need to pay high gold for armor just to cover up my elementalist when other classes have somewhat decent armor at a more than decent price. Thus, this may be my reason for wanting alternatives such as "Amish Armor" at a good price like 1k for each crafted piece.

Well I guess my lack of intelligence fooled me into thinking that if Jora is going to be freezing in the North then other armor types created in GWEN may not be too helpful while battling in the snow. Also, I suppose me being a complete moron has also left me thinking that GW2 is going to be closely related to GW1 so maybe the armor would be related too? Hmmm...clearly my way of thinking is all screwed up.
Quote:

Again with the insecurities. I find it amazing that many people try to say that I'm insecure when in fact I'm actully quite confident in myself and being so confident has led me to stand up for what I believe would be a good idea. So that would leave the "baseless complaints". My grounds for asking for more options have been stated throughout this thread...if you didn't happen to pick up on my reasons then by all means, please feel free to reread the postings. Actually I'll save you sometime...

I'm a female gamer who bought Guild Wars for the enjoyment of online play not because I saw the box and went "OH! Pretty!" I have self-respect, morals, and I prefer to be more proper than not. I don't think that the children who are running around on Guild War masquerading as "T" should be exposed to the showy female jiggle that happens during our ever so dainty run. Nor do I enjoy the comments made mostly (at least I would hope mostly) by the male race. Playing as a male would fix it, but to be honest...I'd hate being a man (even a pixel one) since I've grown attached to being a woman over the course of my life. All my characters are females and they will remain females. No I will not discountinue playing Guild Wars because I handed out good money for all the chapters and GWEN.

I am simply asking for more (if not cheaper) alternatives...(you may have seen this a few times in this thread). How is asking for such a thing a bad idea? I do not know! I guess this thread will have the same arguements that the Hairstylist thread is getting. People who ask and agree vs. the people who hate the idea even though they have the choice to completely ignore the newly instated options if indeed it makes it into Guild Wars.

Long winded, but in the end worth it...

Its good to see someone with a least high morals and a good persoanl standard espically in the world today with the way games/media is protrayed. Just becuase someone voices there opinions and there standards which are not in line with the majorty of world today there is no need to acuse anyone of insecurities etc etc. just becuase there views and standards are somewhat higher than others.

Theres no harm is asking, in the correct forum for a varity of modest armor

I so badly want to say "Yes, yes it is my decision to play the game." Nevertheless I have a strange inkling that someone will say that I don't have the right to make the decision just for the sake of arguing against me. (Just kidding...I doubt anyone is foolish enough to say that I don't hold the right to make that choice.)

Starting off to your last post, perhaps it was a bit hasty for me to have said that you are insecure... I do not know you personally however i was just commenting on my own personal opinion of why you might be offended by the armor in guild wars and the clothing/ visual style of today in general... Furthermore, in response to my last posts points stating that GW is no more revealing than say television or the general visual media available to our culture you said virtually nothing. Perhaps your problem is with society in general rather than simply with Guild wars, but that aside lets look at Guild Wars alone because a forum on guildwarsguru isnt going to change society... ANYWAY as far as Guild Wars let me help you out here...

You already forfieted the dervish armor was not that revealing. With a total of 8 and excluding Elite Vabbian we have 7 total from this profession.

Keep in mind that there are significantly fewer armor for assassin, ritualist, paragon, and dervish. But EVERY SINGLE PROFESSION has several alternatives for those of you seeking AMISH armor. Further more you continually speak of Jora being too revealing (to which there will be additional armor sets available). There are 2 W heros already (Koss and Goren) to choose from who show no breasts to speak of, and the other revealed female heros are all already wearing Amish armor. Finally you flame about future clothing, but when you look at the armor sets that have been revealed (see http://uk.media.pc.gamespy.com/media...g_4733344.html ) you will see that not one of the 4 new armor sets are sets that could be considered revealing... So in Summation I have give you a total of one hundred and twenty two armor sets to choose from (not counting those from GWEN and not counting hero armor) that would allow you to play as ANY race in Guild Wars. So... rather than spewing short sided statements filled with over exaggerrations and misinformation, instead, please thank the art department at Anet for providing you all of the options in armor that you have and please stop complaining about a GAME that you CHOOSE to play.

R!ghteous,
It's not only about looks, but about price range too. I'm not about to blow all my hard earned gold on one set of expensive armor. For example...
  • Paragon has 2 armor sets above 1k crafting price...leaving 1 "amish" armor.
  • Ritualist have 3 higher than 1k leaving another 3
  • Sins have 5 above the normal 1k leaving 4
  • Elementalist have 4 above 1k leaving 2... (ouch)
  • Mesmers have 5 above 1k leaving 9 (not too shabby)
  • Necros and Monks I have no problem with considering they have no bad armor (except for scars)
  • Rangers have 9 above the 1k leaving 11 (mostly the Ascalon armor is left)
  • Warriors have 8 above the 1k leaving 12 (also not shabby)

The only ones that need some help would be Paragon and Elementalist for sure. Yeah...there seem to be a lot of armor selection except when you factor in the prices being an issue...not to mention I left out including all rare material costs that would boost many of those armors to over 2k per piece total. I'm not into paying 10k for armor (I might for magma gloves...maybe) and yes I do have primeval (but it's thanks to that...that I no longer want to do a high purchase on secondary characters *it was a moment of weakness*).

Judge me as you will...arguing against me if you must, but I'm still going to stand firm about having more modest (yet stylish) armor at a moderate price.

Thank you though for posting all the alternatives for the others who may wish to be high rollers.
